A short policy, because there is little to say.

A cookie is a small text file a website asks your browser to store on your device. On the next visit the browser hands it back, which is how a site remembers a language choice, keeps you signed in, or counts a session. Related technologies such as local storage and pixels do much the same job, and everything on this page applies to them too.

That is a design decision rather than an oversight. The site is a static build with no login, no cart, and no personalisation, so there is nothing it needs to remember about you between pages. If that changes, this page changes with it, and anything beyond the strictly necessary category will ask for your consent before it is set.

When cookies do appear on this site, they will fall into one of these categories and be labelled as such.

Strictly necessary

Cookies without which the site cannot function: routing a page request, submitting a form, preventing abuse. These need no consent because the site does not work without them, and disabling them in your browser will break parts of it.

Functional

Cookies that remember a preference you expressed, such as your language. They make the site more convenient and nothing more. Refusing them costs you a preference, not access.

Analytics

Aggregate measurement of which pages get read and where people leave. Our preference is privacy-first, first-party measurement that does not follow you across other sites and does not require a cookie at all.

Marketing

Advertising and cross-site tracking cookies. We do not use these, and we have no plan to. If that ever changes, it will be behind an explicit opt-in.

This site loads no external scripts, fonts, or media. Fonts, images, and code are served from our own domain, which means no third party is quietly handed your IP address as a page renders.

There is a practical reason alongside the privacy one. Our clients and readers include people in mainland China, where pages that depend on foreign script hosts render slowly or not at all. A site with no external calls loads the same way everywhere.

Where we later embed something external, a video or a booking widget for example, that provider may set its own cookies under its own policy. We will name it here before it ships.

Your browser is the final authority regardless of what any site tells you. In the privacy settings of Chrome, Safari, Firefox, or Edge you can see what is stored, delete it, block it by category, and refuse it by default. Private browsing clears everything at the end of the session.

Blocking cookies wholesale can break sign-ins and checkouts elsewhere on the web. On this site it will change nothing, which is rather the point.

BearingBridge Ltd is registered in Hong Kong, so our handling of personal data follows the Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance. For visitors in the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom we also apply the consent standard of the ePrivacy rules and the GDPR: nothing beyond the strictly necessary category is set before you agree to it, and agreement can be withdrawn as easily as it was given.

This page is reviewed alongside the rest of the site and updated whenever what we set in your browser changes. The date at the top moves with it, so the version you are reading is always dated.
